The Breakfast Debate - part 1

The Breakfast Debate - part 1

Wednesday, 20 July 2016 11:06:27 Europe/London

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day and when it comes to making one of our favourite meals – The Full English it is not something to be taken lightly. Much like a roast dinner we often think that we have our own down to perfection from the way it’s cooked to what’s included. So please join us to discuss what makes the ultimate English breakfast!

 Starting this week with;

 Grilled vs. Fried

For many, grilling is not the proper way and frying is the only way it should be done – hence ‘fry up’. Despite this, grilling is the ‘healthy choice’, although when your plate is filled to the brim with bacon, sausages (both Tom Hixson of course), black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, eggs, hash brown and toast I think i it is safe to say if you’re going with the healthy option you should’ve chosen avocado on granary. With fried, you can’t deny, that the crispness of bacon you need in a full English is only achieved in a pan. But then what about the oil build up on your plate? That moment you grab a nicely toasted bit of bread to find it drenched in fat. Nobody wants that, or do they?!

If I had it my way I would do a half grilled and half fried. Grill the sausage then fry the bacon, grill the tomatoes and fry the mushrooms. Controversial, perhaps, but I would poach the egg then fry the bread and maybe have one slice of bread to finish off the meal with a bit of jam (desert). But that’s just me!

What do you reckon? We would love to hear your thoughts and your do’s and don’ts for this much loved dish.
